Why should you get a qualification? It’s about more than a piece of paper, its about confidence that you know the foundational expectations of good youth work practice and knowledge. Most people get intimidated by what they don’t know, but think others do. Don’t let that stop the process of learning and growing in your effectiveness.
Work Based Assesment (WBA) is a method of qualification that recognises knowledge and skills you already have without requiring you to do more training to prove it. It is perhaps the most effective way for a youth worker to gain qualifications while maintaining their current employment. As youth workers we pick up a lot of knowledge and skills on the job, we do courses to up skill etc. Why not turn that into a formal qualification?
